Now we’ve set our sights on building a bank for the African diaspora across the globe and our initial focus is on remittances. We’re currently launching an international money transfer service for African living overseas, who send money home to their loved ones. Job Position: Country Manager (Nigeria)

Description

  • In this role, you will lead Rafiki’s business in Nigeria - one of our most critical markets - with full ownership of the P&L.
  • You’ll drive FX performance by securing credit lines, sourcing and selling directly to corporates, managing a robust corporate pipeline, and optimising payout partnerships, including negotiating post-funding arrangements.
  •  You’ll also be responsible for unblocking regulatory approvals, building high-impact partner relationships, and delivering reliable, data-driven insights that guide product, growth, and performance strategy across the business.

Requirements

  • Deep FX expertise, with a strong track record of structuring sound FX arrangements and products that make commercial sense despite market volatility.
  • Prior experience as a trader at a bank or brokerage firm is highly desirable, or demonstrated ability to navigate and understand Nigeria’s complex FX environment.
  • Background in trade finance, treasury, or liquidity management is a strong plus.
  • In-depth understanding of the Nigerian fintech, payments, and banking ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated success in securing regulatory approvals with the Central Bank of Nigeria is a plus.
  • Proven ability to build and manage high-value partnerships with key individuals at importers, banks, regulators, and fintechs.
  • Strategic and structured thinker, able to communicate clearly - both in writing and in speech - and influence at the C-suite level.
  • Strong execution mindset - thrives in fast-paced, high-accountability environments.

What You’ll Own:

  • Source the most competitive FX rates in Nigeria through innovative products
  • Benchmark and negotiate the best commercials with new and existing partners.
  • Develop deep, strategic relationships with fx partners, payout partners, regulators, bankers, traders, and relevant business leaders.
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance and secure all required licenses and Letters of No Objection.
  • Secure credit lines to support liquidity and scale operations.
  • Gather market insights and data that can be relied on to make decisions.
