We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Regional Operations Manager (West Africa)


Job Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full Time

Job Summary

  • Lead and manage the West African Regional Operations team. To provide field support, resolve escalated incidents and assigned problems, install, maintain and manage network and facilities equipment for WIOCC Group companies, including Open Access Technical Services (OATS) and clients.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead & manage 24/7 field, on-call, out of hours and night/weekend / public holidays working as required
  • Establish and manage field routine maintenance activities and comply with health and safety legislation
  • Manage proactive monitoring of equipment and facilities
  • Manage network installation, testing and commissioning, bringing into service and integration
  • Cross-connects, jumping, patching copper and fibre
  • Manage records, inventory and spares
  • Manage the receiving of equipment, bench test, storage and RMA return handling
  • Lead Incident and problem resolution as directed by NOC / TAC / NMC / GCC
  • Manage contractors and vendors
  • Support other Regions as required
  • Assist service managers as directed, including client and supplier meetings
  • Support regional business development, including consultancy and sales support
  • Assist with network quality and performance management
  • Creation of ad hoc reports as needed
  • Assist other departments and projects as requested by the Programme Manager
  • Drive company vehicles as required, travel as required, including to Africa, the EU and the UK
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent, Masters preferred) in a technical field or equivalent relevant experience
  • Excellent English communicator
  • French, Spanish and / or Italian desirable
  • Technical certifications i.e. CCNP/JNCP or equivalent field experience (desirable)
  • Valid full driver’s license
  • Right to live and work in Nigeria

Experience & Skills: 

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years’ technical experience in the telecom industry, with desirably at least 2 years in second-level technical support or equivalent and essentially 3 years in a team leader role
  • Knowledge of platforms including OTN, DWDM, SDH, Data (Ethernet, IP/MPLS, OSPF, BGP)
  • Good communication and soft skills, including the ability to follow instructions
  • Must use systems effectively to record information accurately and concisely in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
  • Use of tools and test equipment, including OLT, OTDR, OSA, Ethernet/OTN testers, splice machine
