Job Summary
- We are seeking to employ a Project Engineer.
- He has the ownership of the technical coordination of the engineering disciplines and represents a reference point to the client for all technical matters related to interfaces and to the internal functions (Supply Chain, Project Management and Field Services).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Overseeing existing projects and take the lead on new projects. This includes ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards including agreed milestones and reporting.
- Reviewing operational costs on projects and improving the bottom line; employing cost-saving measures such as reducing expenses, optimizing production processes, and increasing operational efficiency.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and vendors. This includes identifying new business opportunities and developing strategies to win new business.
- Identifying and managing the risks associated with the company's operations. This includes creating risk management strategies and implementing risk mitigation plans.
- Collaborate with your Line Manager to develop and implement project strategies that align with chairborne’s objectives.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, and operations to ensure seamless project execution.
- Oversee project budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation to ensure cost efficiency and profitability.
- Act as the primary point of contact as required for external stakeholders including clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies, ensuring clear communication and managing expectations.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure projects are delivered safely and on schedule.
- Monitor the use of tools, equipment, and materials to prevent wastage and control costs.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and readily available for audit or review.
- Ensure all projects comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental protocols.
- Conduct regular project reviews, tracking progress against milestones, and reporting to your Line Manager as required.
- Drive innovation and identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and competitive advantage.
- Provide guidance and support to project execution team and site workers, promoting teamwork and productivity.
- Conduct regular briefings to keep the project execution team informed of project goals and expectations.
- Oversee the implementation of quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of work.
- Inspect work regularly to ensure that it meets specifications and standards.
- Enforce safety regulations and promote a culture of safety among workers and particularly, the project's execution team.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, industry standards, and government regulations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and on-site inspections to identify potential hazards.
- Resolve conflicts and address personnel issues as they arise.
- Ensure project control measures are in place to address potential issues of non-compliance and poor performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or project management.
- 10+ years of engineering/project/program management experience in the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
- A master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
- Applicable COREN license or NSE membership is a plus.
- Proven track record of managing complex, multidisciplinary projects in the oil and gas sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of oil and gas processes and engineering principles.
- Proficiency in utilizing computer applications, software, and tools relevant to project and engineering management.
- Solid understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices; NEBOSH or OSHA certifications are preferred where applicable.
