1.) Automation Engineer

About the Job


  • Role holder is responsible for ensuring that the Application and Maintenance of Automation and Control Principles in order to facilitate the achievement of world class reliability factor of the plant. 
  • In this role He/she will carry out the maintenance and sustainability of the platform of control for the automatic operation of the plant and the process optimization, by mean of tools of software and hardware currently installed or the application of new technologies. 
  • The platform includes: Process Controllers, HMI system, Industrial Networks, Kiln Scanners, Local Panels, Reporting tool and other related Integrated Systems.

What you'll be doing

  • Maintenance for the Platform of Hardware and Software and all the items related to the Control system, according/with guides of SAP (Planning, WO, Daily Tracking, Failure analysis, Critical Spares, Asset History and all the Key Indicators of Availability and Productivity).
  • Assurance of the Correct Protections and Alarms for plant equipment’s through the control logic and based on specific Operational Parameters of the machines and Managers guidelines.
  • Process Optimization and Continuous improvement in the operation.
  • Ensuring the Development and Updating of the Backup of all information and electronics parts of the plant control system.
  • Analyze and Monitor the performance of Infrastructure components of the Control Systems
  • Keeping the Historical Failures of Automated systems of the plant with good quality information.
  • Maintain Current Plans and diagrams of the control system.
  • Maintenance of Systems related to the Control system such as Quality system, Reporting Applications, Telecommunications Systems.
  • Support in the Design and Configuration of Production Reports with Key Process Indicators KPI `s in manageable formats, Integrating SCADA systems, X-ray equipment, Energy meters and other systems (Shell scanner, Servers, SAP, TIS, HLC, HMI, PCS).
  • Ensure Parameterization of Control Systems.
  • Ensure Optimal Implementation of New Automation Technology Platforms.
  • Ensure the Availability and Updating of process control data.
  • Ensure the smooth running of resources and specific tools of Process Control Systems.
  • Ensure Proper Compliance with the Plant Health and safety procedures, IMS and the environment.

What we are looking for 

  • Engineering Degree specialized in Electrical / Electronics.
  • 4 - 6 years of professional experience in Automation
  • In-depth knowledge in Siemens S7 PLC programming by: ladder & function blocks.
  • In-depth knowledge of Siemens S7 hardware structure.
  • Knowledge in Industrial Profibus network troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Knowledge in FLS DCS automation package. (ECS) (Advantage)
  • Knowledge in administering and configuring TCP/IP based networks. Knowledge in Operating Systems installation and administration.
  • Knowledge in industrial Electrical & Instrumentation (installation, loop checking, calibration and commissioning).
  • Knowledge in pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Capable of interpreting engineering documents such as P&ID's, data sheets, instrument indexes, loop drawings, panel layouts etc.
  • Ability to read all types of electrical drawing wiring, single line diagram, and ladder diagram and function block diagram.
  • Strong troubleshooting / faultfinding skills.
  • Knowledge of international codes, standards and regulations (IEEE-ANSI-ISA- NEMA)
  • Ability to understand, simplify and communicate technology and ideas
  • Awareness about Safety rules and regulations.

2.) Batcher - A&C, Gravitas Plant

About the Job 

  • Ensures that the correct proportions of materials are mixed and ready for transportation in/to Plants or construction sites. 
  • His/Her primary responsibility is to oversee the batching process, where raw materials like cement, aggregates (sand, gravel), water, and admixtures are combined according to the required specifications for producing ready-mix concrete.

Responsibilities
What you'll be doing:

  • Ensure full compliance with Lafarge HSE standards. Conduct regular BOG/VPCs in the plant/offices to ensure HSE compliance, with documented report.
  • Coordinates daily tool box activities and ensure records are documented.
  • Liaise with the Safety department to ensure the distribution of Personal Protective
  • Equipment (PPEs) to the plant team as required
  • Confirms daily orders with Sales Reps and coordinates with customers, the frequency of delivery and timing
  • Create daily customer orders in LOGON
  • The Batcher shall operate the concrete batching application system (BCMIX/LOGON/SAP) in accordance with company quality procedures to produce approved ready mixed concrete to the customers using the daily dispatch sheets.
  • Ensure all batched RMX concrete meets customers’ requirements (volume & grade) before leaving the plant.
  • Conduct daily and monthly production closures on BCMIX
  • Carry out daily first level inspection/checks on the plant (mixers, conveyors etc) and start up procedures.
  • Notify plant or quality personnel of any customer complaint or non-conformity for necessary follow up.
  • Responsible for monitoring all weighbridge activities which include weigh-in/out of trucks and volume check on raw materials and finished products using agreed bulk density
  • Collaborate with the other stakeholders to ensure that adequate risk assessment are conducted for every task within the plant and ensure control mechanism and standard guidelines are strictly adhered to as per LH policies.
  • Ensure prompt communication of concrete delivery, plant downtime and possible site delays to all stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the Operations Coordinator to ensure that required manpower is available for the daily production activities.
  • Other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Operations Coordinator

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience (OND holders) working in a batch plant at a concrete manufacturing plant

3.) Security Operative

About the Job 

  • The Security Operative (SO) is responsible for keeping Lafarge Africa and suppliers’ staff, visitors, and similar safe & secure. 
  • Based on shift work rotation the SO will be in the plant between eight and twelve hours, also on weekends, and supervise all security related activities while in parallel supervise and support all company transport activities.

What you'll be doing

  • Responsible for the protection of the company’s PEARL (People, Environment, Assets, Reputation & Legal Exposure) in the South-East Region under the direction of the Security Manager South-East.
  • Support the supervision of the Private Security Provider, ensuring they fulfil their contractual obligations. 
  • Conduct supervisory checks on the 3rd party security provider and the services provided such as random checks at guard locations in Mfamosing Plant (MFA) and Calabar, joining vehicular patrols and ensuring all standards agreed are being fulfilled. To be conducted utilising various online tools that are available.
  • Ensure Lafarge Health & Safety standards are adhered to.
  • Supervise and direct the armed security incident response force.
  • Supervise and direct security assets during crises periods and/or in case of direct assaults on company staff and/or assets.
  • Provide reliable and concise incident data and write accurate reports via the various company online tools.
  • Interact with the local PSF (Public Security Forces) in cases of (armed) attacks, intrusions, trespassing, fraud and theft.
  • Safeguard that all Security & Resilience Policies of the company are adhered to.
  • Act as a communicator between the Plant Management and Security Department when the Senior Security Operatives is not present.
  • Work in shifts ensuring there is a 24/7 security supervision function on duty.
  • Support with investigations and detailed report writing. Validate reporting independent of the Private Security Provider’s report.
  • Conduct independent assessments and identify gaps in baseline physical security and notify/ advise both the Security Manager and Senior Security Operative.
  • Gather local intelligence on all aspects and issues to support and protect the business.
  • Create and maintain intelligence networks.
  • Reporting of incidents on the Group Security SINT platform.
  • Monitoring and supervision of CCTV operators, video evidence assessment and ongoing projects

What we are looking for

  • OND minimum requirement 
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a security supervisory position
  • Security incident supervisory experience (incl. following up on complex incidents such as shootings, armed attacks, theft, and similar)
  • Experience of supervising teams and resources
  • Capability to drive Lafarge security standards in all business activities.
  • Be Microsoft Office proficient
  • Ability to produce different kind of vetted and accurate incident reports.
