Job Position: Human Resource Officer
Job Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Summary


  • We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced HR Specialist to support and enhance the human resources functions. 
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing HR strategies, ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies, managing workforce planning, and supporting the recruitment, onboarding, and development of employees in line with operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with departmental heads to understand workforce needs and develop manpower planning strategies.
  • Coordinate and support the recruitment, selection, and onboarding process for technical and non-technical roles.
  • Ensure compliance with industry-specific labor laws, health and safety regulations, and corporate HR policies.
  • Support compensation and benefits administration, including payroll coordination and allowances relevant to field operations.
  • Develop and conduct employee orientation and HR policy training.
  • Monitor and support the implementation of learning and development initiatives.
  • Maintain and update HR records, including employment contracts, job descriptions, and personnel files.
  • Assist with the implementation of performance management systems and employee appraisal processes.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
  • Collaborate with HSE and operations teams to support workforce welfare, safety culture, and compliance.
  • Generate and analyze HR metrics and prepare reports for management decision-making.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial / Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5 - 7 years of HR experience, preferably in the oil and gas, energy, or engineering sector.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., CIPM, SHRM, CIHRM) is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, HR best practices, and health & safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and often remote environment.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Understanding of rotational work systems (onshore/offshore schedules).
  • Experience with expatriate staff management and global mobility.
  • Knowledge of competency frameworks for technical roles in the oil and gas industry.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP HCM).
